he just gave up a triple then a double on plays the OF's perhaps should have made.

Marquez 6.0 6 3 3 2 1 1 1.93
Just a quality start, nothing dominant.

nice. love how all these AA pitchers have really taken off this year. Even more impressive is that they left a pitchers league and are doing even better. Contreras should get a huge raise.

Scotty Aldred is the AA pitching coach and I'm starting to think he's great.

Marquez is struggling today.

He's walked the park today but he's only given up 1 run through 4. The Thunder just got their first hit.

He lost it in the 5 and has given up 3 hits and a run so far.

Everyone has a bad start every now and then.

I know, but with Rasner and Karstens now on the long term DL, it would be nice to be able to move the high upside guys like Marquez and Horne up rather than the more major league average guys like Smith or Jones, though Smith is starting to shine a bit more than previously expected. So it's just sort of poor timing for him to throw a turkey.

Marquez (W, 6-3) 7.0 9 0 0 0 4 0 2.43
Weird line. 9 hits but no runs.

Marquez 6.0 5 3 3 3 1 1 2.62
a quality start, but only 1 K and a HR allowed. His ERA is heading in the wrong direction.

Post by philinla on Jun 6, 2007 12:44:02 GMT -5
Marquez 6.0 6 4 4 0 7 1 2.90
good k's and no walks, BUT mostly fly balls and he gave up a homer.

So apparently Marquez is working on a new curveball and that might be what's creating the flyballs - and the strikeouts.

Marquez (W, 8-3) 7.0 5 1 1 1 6 0 2.76
Complete game win. NICE! first end of a DH that's why it's only 7 innings.

Marquez 5.0 6 2 2 4 3 0 2.70
too many walks and hits, but an acceptable outing.

Marquez 4.2 8 5 5 4 3 1 3.07
Marquez melted down in the 5th. He's been walking too many lately, too boot.

Post by philinla on Jun 29, 2007 20:09:02 GMT -5
Marquez 5.0 9 4 4 1 1 1 3.29
too much contact, but only 1 walk. Of course only 1 K is bad, too.
