The Angels are reportedly looking at Erick Aybar in center field in case Gary Matthews Jr. is unable to begin the season on time. The Los Angeles Times suggests that owner Arte Moreno may suspend Matthews if he fails to address allegations that he ordered HGH. "As this thing goes on, not really knowing how close it is to a resolution or what a resolution might be, you definitely have to prepare," manager Mike Scioscia said. Chone Figgins, Reggie Willits and Tommy Murphy are seemingly more likely replacements given Aybar's lack of experience in center, and talk of suspending Matthews is merely speculation at this stage. www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-angrep13mar13,1,628049.story?coll=la-headlines-sports-mlb-angels

The union is going to slap Moreno to oblivion if he tries to pull that crap. Matthews can't be forced to talk about a criminal matter.

“I have never taken HGH—during the 2004 season or any other time,” Matthews said in a statement. “Nobody has accused me of doing so, and no law enforcement authority has said I am a target of any investigation for doing so.”www.fftimes.com/index.php/5/2007-03-15/30032
