Within this notebook, there is word that the Cubs and the rep for Carlos Zambrano have barely talked about a contract extension. This should thrill the money-superpower Mets, Yankees and Red Sox, who could be lined up to bid on Zambrano in November if he becomes a free agent. chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070318cubsbits,1,6313602.story?coll=cs-home-headlines

I would sign him up in a heartbeat if he becomes a free agent.

To me it depends on how far along Hughes, Chamberlain, Sanchez and Betances are. I'm kind of worried about any pitcher who has worked for Dusty or Sweet Lou, and by the time he is free he will have done both. I still have a feeling the Cubs will re-sign him, though.

Agree about Baker and Lou P. Baker's the worst, but Lou isn't far behind.

Well we have a whole season to see how he does. Its good for his career that Baker is now gone.

Good pitching almost never makes it to FA anymore, and I doubt this will be any different...
