Where we play our last game of the season may be determined by this & other moves. Under any conditions, it should be extremely interesting to see how this superior talent fares in his first partial season in the 'bigs'. ______________________________________
Is pen move smart for phenom? Posted: Thursday August 02, 2007 07:33AM ET With top Yankee pitching prospect Joba Chamberlain in the process of converting to be a reliever so he can join the major-league bullpen, you would expect nothing but excitement at the Chamberlain house in Lincoln, Neb.And make no mistake Harlan Chamberlain, Joba's father, is happy for his son. But he was rather quick to admit in a telephone interview earlier this afternoon that he has some health reservations about his 21-year-old son pitching out of the bullpen at this stage of his blossoming career. "Yeah, it's exciting, but, I guess, my concerns at this time are more for the safety of his arm and what this does to his arm," Harlan said. "So I kind of feel like the jury's out for me right now. His personal welfare from a parent's perspective overshadows the baseball perspective."--New York Newsday

Joba's scheduled to pitch 2 innings on two day's rest tomorrow in SWB. His appearances will be coordinated like that.

Joba was awesome last night. I love chunky pitchers.

It was like Clemens and his son were pitching for the Yanks last night.

I don't think that kid was throwing at Youkilis. That's ridiculous. But if the Sox want to believe so to get themselves pumped up, then bring it on. 9/14-9/16 will be rather interesting, I should think. Love, Oscar

Another Sox-Yankees feud brewing Posted: Friday August 31, 2007 06:39AM ET Joba Chamberlain, with two 98-mph fastballs over Kevin Youkilis' head in the ninth inning, all but ensured it won't be a dull weekend at Fenway Park when the Yankees and Red Sox meet again in two weeks. No member of the Red Sox would say Chamberlain's pitches were intentional, but it's clear they weren't sold on the idea that two pitches to the backstop, in succession, were a mistake.--New York Post

That was great tonight. The emotion from his dad was wonderful.
