he hasn't shown anywhere near the velocity He's thrown 93/4 before, he just needs to build up his velocity by throwing lots of 4 seamers. He's still a teenager. His change, though, is where Hughes needs to get his. He has the same build as Hughes and they are giving him the same pitches to work with.

Last summer when he had Betances were piggybacking in GCL (or it may have been later in instructs) they faced a rehabbing AAA guy who said they were better than the pitchers he saw in triple A. McAllister was throwing 93/4 then. It's not unusual not to have full velocity early in camp.

It's not unusual not to have full velocity early in camp. i remember that . . . i thought it was instructs big fan of mcallister's but still would like to see more reporting on his velocity. feels to me like a lot of projectability but not much actual velocity yet
