Is all the opt out speculation based on the clause in his contract that he gets a seven million bump the last two years and if not then the opt out? How much of that are the Yanks on the hook for anyway?

I they'd be on the hook for all of it, if he decided to opt out. I don't think he's gonna, though.

Mike (Atlanta): Buster, where is Arod playing after this season?
Buster Olney: (3:40 PM ET ) Mike: Angels, Giants or Dodgers.
Buster Olney: (3:41 PM ET ) OK, guys, checking out for a few minutes -- I'll be right back.

He also picked Bobby Crosby for MVP which I laughed at when I originally heard the prediction.

I'm wondering if there'll be booing once the regular (non-opening day) crowd is there. I hope not-Jeter's error led to one run and his lack of range up the middle cost another, but he didn't hear any boos.

Anyone who says Rodriguez isn't opting out is intellectually dishonest.
There is ZERO chance that Alex Rodriguez and Scott Boros are going to honor the last 3 years of the current contract when Soriano gets paid 136 million. They would be fools not to test the threshold of owner stupidity a second time.
That doesn't even take into account the Rodriguez daily taking of the temperature, the true Yankee nonsense, the Jeter/Rodriguez ex-lover angle and most of all the greed of Boros and Rodriguez that was on display for everyone to see when they insisted on doubling the Keven Garnett contract in 2000.
If Cashman doesn't change his mind Rodriguez is gone as soon as the season is over. Because the only way he's on the Yankees next year is with a long, new contract.

I have no idea if Arod's leaving and I'm not being intellectually dishonest. I'm not sure Arod knows if he's Leaving or not, and I doubt if someone who's never met him can be certain about anything concerning him.

So Soriano got 17 mil a year. What does Arod make next year - 27 mil. Think someone will give him considerably more per year and a long term contract? Maybe 5 years and 150 million?

Phil, that's the kicker. I really don't see that happening. If he doesn't opt out after this season he will most probably be playing the contract out. The next 2 years, the team then only needs to make him the highest paid player, which he will already be.

yeah, and I could easily see the Yanks make hand shake deals with the older stars who want to stay and retire as Yanks like they made with Moose and will make with Mo.

Something's different so far this season (I know, small sample)...he looks like he doesn't give a fuck. Almost like he's not afraid to fail anymore. My heart was beating out of my chest when the count went to 1-2. And he completely obliterated that pitch. Crushed.

At Bronx Banter someone jokingly pointed out that he only needed 2 RBI to win the game, but padded his stats with 4.
